Police Crack Down on Online Financial Frauds in Bandipora

In a significant breakthrough, the police in Bandipora have recovered Rs 5.50 lakhs from fraudsters’ accounts and refunded the amount to the victims’ bank accounts after completing all legal formalities. Additionally, 19 missing and stolen smartphones worth Rs 3 lakhs were recovered and handed over to their owners.

The police action came in response to multiple complaints from the public regarding online financial frauds, missing and stolen mobile phones, and other social media crimes. The recipients of the recovered amount and smartphones expressed their gratitude to the police for their relentless efforts in retrieving their hard-earned money and mobile phones.

The police have advised the public to exercise caution when using mobile phones and other electronic media gadgets to safeguard themselves from cyber-related frauds and crimes. In case of any cybercrime or fraud, the public can register a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal www.cybercrime.gov.in or call the toll-free number 1930 or contact the nearest police unit/Cyber Crime Unit DPO Bandipora.

Furthermore, citizens can report missing or stolen mobile phones on the CEIR Portal online CEIR, a dedicated portal for reporting lost or stolen mobile phones launched by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.

The police action serves as a warning to fraudsters and a reassurance to the public that the authorities are committed to tackling online financial frauds and other cybercrimes.
