Operation Sindoor: A Bold Statement of India’s Defence Resolve
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Sunday reiterated that Operation Sindoor stands as a powerful testament to India’s unity, readiness and unwavering resolve against cross-border terrorism. Launched on May 7, 2025, in direct response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor marked a turning point in India’s defence doctrine by showcasing tri-services synergy, strategic depth and technological superiority.
The MoD statement emphasized the integrated nature of the operation, highlighting precision airstrikes on critical targets such as Nur Khan and Rahimyar Khan Air Bases in Pakistan, robust naval posturing through a Carrier Battle Group, and effective coordination between the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) on the ground. This multi-domain warfare approach was powered by advanced systems like the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) and the Akash Missile system.
Defence Reforms and Jointness: The New Operational Reality
Operation Sindoor also demonstrated the fruits of ongoing defence reforms under the ‘Year of Defence Reforms 2025’. These reforms include the establishment of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)-led Defence Management Authority (DMA), Integrated Theatre Commands, Joint Logistics Nodes, and real-time joint exercises such as Prachand Prahar and Desert Hunt.
The MoD stated, “Jointness is not just a vision-it’s India’s operational reality. Operation Sindoor exemplifies how the Armed Forces, empowered by reforms and cutting-edge technology, are prepared to respond decisively to threats, ensuring India’s sovereignty and security.”
Strengthening Security in Jammu and Kashmir
The arrest of terrorist associates in Shopian complements the broader security framework established through Operation Sindoor and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir. The combined vigilance of the Indian Army, CRPF, BSF and local police continues to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent attacks, contributing to the gradual restoration of peace in the region.
As India advances its defence capabilities and operational coordination, incidents like the Shopian arrests underscore the commitment of security forces to safeguard citizens and uphold national integrity.
This development reinforces India’s strategic posture against terrorism and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated security operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
