Terrorist Killed in J&K’s Kathua; Operation Underway

On Sep 29, 2024 a terrorist was killed by security forces in an operation in Kathua district on Sunday, bringing the death toll to two. The encounter took place in Kog-Mandli village in Billawar tehsil, where a massive search operation is underway for the second day.

Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, R.R. Swain, expressed deep condolences over the martyrdom of Head Constable Bashir Ahmad, who laid down his life during the encounter with foreign terrorists. DGP Swain praised HC Bashir’s exceptional bravery, noting that he fearlessly defended his community and country, delivering a strong blow to the terrorists with his Light Machine Gun (LMG) before succumbing to his injuries.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Anand Jain stated that the search operation was launched following information about the presence of three to four foreign terrorists. The whole area is under tight security cordon, and the operation aims to neutralize the terrorists hiding in the area.

Jain assured that adequate security arrangements have been put in place in all poll-bound areas to ensure a violence-free third phase of polls on October 1. The third phase covers Jammu, Udhampur, and Samba districts in Jammu region and north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

DGP Swain paid tributes to HC Bashir Ahmad, vowing support to his family and pledging to avenge his martyrdom. The J&K Police force stands firmly behind the family and will continue to offer full support in the future.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and stand in solidarity with the security forces. We also offer support to the families of those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten.

The KRF reaffirms its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, acknowledging the tireless efforts of security personnel in combating terrorism and ensuring citizen safety. We urge the community to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in their quest to eradicate terrorism. By working together, we can create a safer and more secure environment for all.
