Terrorists attack police bus at Zewan, Srinagar, 8 cops injured, 4 critical

In an extremely outrageous act of violence and cowardness, some eight policemen were injured. Among the injured, four of them were critically wounded. The attack was carried at the Zewan area of Srinagar on December 13. During the attack, terrorists fired indiscriminately at the vehicle of the 9th battalion Indian Reserve Police (IRP) on Pantha Chowk-Khonmoh road.
Police had been the prime target of terrorists for the last few weeks. In the last week two policemen were assassinated in cold blood by the terrorists in Bandipora.
The law and order situation in the valley has seen a drastic improvement since Jammu and Kashmir was absolved into Union territory. Centre’s direct hand on the departments curtailed corruption to many degrees which unaids the growth of terrorism for now. The hawala money supporters, beneficiaries of the conflict economy have been cut from the tail ends resulting in frustration of the terror outfits. The same money which was circulated for the growth of several other illegal activities witnesses breaks due to stringent measures by the union government. In the purview of these measures, terrorists toil to disrupt the peace and normalcy in the valley. The attack on policemen is an assault on the face of Kashmir who anyhow safeguards the rights and privileges of the Kashmiris.
