Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar has set a remarkable new record by attracting over 8.14 lakh visitors during the 26-day Tulip Show of 2025, held from March 26 to April 20. This unprecedented footfall surpasses all previous records, underscoring the garden’s growing appeal as a premier springtime destination. The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, nestled at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, welcomed a diverse crowd of locals, domestic tourists, and over 3,100 international visitors who came to witness the breathtaking bloom of more than 1.7 million tulips spanning 75 varieties. The vibrant colors and scenic backdrop of Dal Lake and the Zabarwan hills created an enchanting atmosphere that drew visitors in large numbers throughout the festival.

The garden’s popularity peaked on April 6, when it recorded its highest single-day attendance of 81,352 visitors, followed by April 13 with over 70,000 visitors. The surge was particularly noticeable on weekends and during peak blooming days, with the opening week alone attracting more than 1.56 lakh tourists. This steady increase in visitors highlights the Tulip Garden’s transformation into a must-visit attraction not only for Kashmir but for travelers across India and abroad. Officials attribute this success to a combination of factors including improved infrastructure, enhanced promotional efforts, and favorable weather conditions that allowed the tulips to bloom spectacularly. New flower beds, fountains, and well-maintained walking paths further enhanced the visitor experience, making the garden more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.

The record-breaking footfall at the Tulip Garden also reflects the broader resurgence of tourism in Kashmir in 2025. With over 5.25 lakh tourists visiting the region in the first three months of the year, including a significant number drawn by events like the Khelo India Winter Games and the Tulip Festival, the valley is witnessing a revival of its tourism economy. This influx is providing vital support to local businesses and communities that depend heavily on tourism. The Tulip Garden, with its spectacular spring showcase, has become a symbol of this positive change, attracting visitors eager to experience Kashmir’s natural beauty and cultural vibrancy.

As the tulip bloom nears its end, authorities have announced that the garden will close to the public from the evening of April 24, 2025. This closure marks the conclusion of the 2025 Tulip Festival, which has been hailed as one of the most successful in the garden’s history. The garden, spanning 74 acres and established in 2007 to boost floriculture and tourism, has steadily grown in prominence, with visitor numbers rising from around 360,000 in 2022 to over 8 lakh this year. The closure will allow the garden to prepare for the next season and maintain its delicate floral displays for years to come.

In summary, the 2025 Tulip Festival at Srinagar’s Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden has not only shattered attendance records but also reinforced Kashmir’s position as a top springtime destination. The overwhelming response from tourists worldwide reflects the garden’s unique charm and the region’s growing appeal as a safe and attractive travel hub. As the garden closes for the season, the memories of vibrant tulip fields and joyous crowds will linger, promising even greater celebrations in the years ahead.
