On 22 August 2004, tragedy was brought to the doorstep of innocent civilians, when a defenseless woman, Shazia Banoo, was brutally murdered within the sanctuary of her own home in Doda district. Her life was senselessly cut short by a group of terrorists who stormed her residence, leaving her loved ones to grapple with unimaginable grief.
In a separate incident on the same day, a civilian, Ghulam Rasool Yatoo, was shot and wounded in his residence at Trayan in Anantnag district. He was left to fight for his life after being callously attacked by terrorists.
These heinous acts of terror were widely condemned, and the victims and their families were left to suffer the consequences of such senseless violence. The memories of that fateful day continue to haunt the region, serving as a painful reminder of the devastating impact of terrorism.
