On 21 August, 20021, in a tragic incident, Mohammad Jamal Pal, a civilian from Srinagar, was brutally murdered by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terrorists. The slain civilian was father of Mushtaq Pal, a prominent counter-insurgent who was also killed by HM terrorists in Srinagar on July 26, 2001.

This was not a singular incident; many such acts of violence have taken place in valley claiming lives of countless innocent Kashmiris at hands violence perpetuated by terrorists. The very terrorists had longer claimed to fight for the rights of Kashmiri people. However, this senseless act once again highlights the sufferings of innocent Kashmiris that they were caught in during the past decades. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, a Pakistan-affiliated Islamist terrorist organization, has been engaged in the spreading terrorism since 1989. Their tactics had included the targeted killing of peace-loving intelligentsia, surrendered militants and even the family members of people who wished to live a peaceful life.

The killing of Mohammad Jamal Pal is another tragic reminder of the heavy toll the terrorism has taken on the Kashmiri people. Civilians like Pal, who have no direct involvement in the militancy, were being forced to pay the ultimate price for the political ambitions of terrorist groups like Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. As the terrorism continued, the valley had become a graveyard for the dreams and aspirations of its people, who yearned for peace and normalcy.

A Need for Action

As the world watches in silence, the Kashmiri people continue to suffer at the hands of terrorist organizations like Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, PAFF, JeM etc. It is crucial that the international community takes note of the atrocities committed against innocent Kashmiri civilians and works towards a peaceful Kashmir filled with prosperity.

The world must stand united in condemning these senseless acts of violence and hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The Kashmiri people deserve to live in peace, free from the fear of violence and the constant threat of losing their loved ones to the conflict.

A Call for Unity and Resilience

In the face of such adversity, the Kashmiri people must remain united and resilient as they have been since 2019. They must stand together in solidarity, refusing to be divided by the tactics of terrorist organizations. The people of Kashmir must continue to raise their voices, demanding justice and peace and refusing to be silenced by the barrel of a gun.

As the world watches, the Kashmiri people must remain steadfast in their commitment towards making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful abode. They must continue to work towards a future where the valley is no longer a battleground for the ambitions of terrorist groups, but a place where the dreams and aspirations of its people can flourish.
