In a dastardly act of terrorism, four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, were killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on 15 July, 2024. The incident occurred when a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched in the Desa area of Doda, based on specific information about the presence of terrorists.
The encounter began around 9 pm, resulting in a heavy firefight, and at least five soldiers were critically injured. Unfortunately, four of them succumbed to their injuries later. The deceased included an officer and three jawans. This is the second major attack in the Jammu region within a week, following the killing of five soldiers in Kathua last week.
KRF condemns this cowardly attack on our brave soldiers in the strongest possible terms. The sacrifices of our martyred soldiers will not go in vain, and we stand in solidarity with their families in this hour of grief. The Indian Army has been deployed to eliminate terrorism in the Jammu region, and we have full faith in their capabilities.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken with the Indian Army chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, to assess the ground situation and ongoing operation in Doda. The attack has raised concerns about the presence of foreign terrorists, estimated to be over 60, trained in jungle warfare, operating in the Jammu region.
Our brave soldiers have always stood guard, protecting our nation from the forces of evil. We salute their courage and sacrifice, and we will continue to stand with them in their fight against terrorism.
