On Feb 11, in an unfortunate incident, an Army Captain and a braveheart soldier were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector on Tuesday. The blast occurred during a fence patrol in the Laleali area, according to officials.
The White Knight Corps confirmed the incident, stating on X: “Suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast reported in #Laleali in Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol, resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area and search operations are underway.”
The brave-hearts include Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh. Another soldier has also sustained some injuries in the blast.
“The White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers,” the White Knight Corps added in their statement.
Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, expressed his condolences, stating, “Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar Army Commander Northern Command and all ranks of Dhruva Command solemnly salute the supreme sacrifice of brave hearts Capt Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh in a suspected IED blast in Akhnoor. Dhruva Command stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”
This incident comes on the heels of a review of security measures by Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, who had assessed ‘Hostile Activities’ along the LoC in the Rajouri district on Monday.
Security forces are working tirelessly to eliminate the terrorists and their associates who are attempting to disrupt peace in the region. Authorities have assured that efforts to maintain normalcy and stability will continue unabated. The area is currently under domination by security forces, and a comprehensive search operation is underway to identify those responsible for planting the IED.
