In a daring operation, two brave soldiers laid down their lives in a fierce gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Aug 06. During the encounter a soldier and two civilians were injured.
With unwavering courage, the army patrol confronted the terrorists in the forest of Kokernag subdivision, despite being targeted by indiscriminate and reckless firing. The army’s special forces, comprising paratroopers, were part of the operation aimed at flushing out terrorists believed to be foreigners.
This is the second major encounter in Kokernag in the last year, where security personnel have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. In September 2023, a Commanding Officer, a Major, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police were among the personnel killed during a gunbattle with terrorists in the same forest.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps released a statement on X, saluting the martyred soldiers and stating that the two injured civilians had been provided immediate medical aid and evacuated. The operation is still underway.
The incident highlights the bravery and selflessness of our security personnel, who risk everything to protect the nation from terrorism. We honor the memory of the martyred soldiers and stand with their families in this difficult time.
